December 2008

Sigh it’s soooo good to see how my school band’s growing and becoming better and better.. Heartwarming and definitely very proud of them..

It’s my pity and regret to be in such a young band though; I hardly got to do anything when I was officially still in it. Well, all I can do now is to sit back and watch the next ‘generation’ carry out so many life-enriching events and not be physically part of it. It’s so sad

Wow, it’s really been a great and crazy period of Hols!! Well, I don’t know where to start.. Had TJCSB prac on Monday (yesterday), and then today I popped by PHSB prac to look at them march under the sun hahahaha… They’re preparing to send in the marching video as a requirement for the SYF.. Looking good!!

Wow, I’m terribly drained; it’s been a really tough period cos of the consecutive sicknesses! I had one bad bout of flu before the HK trip and was really blessed to recover by the time the trip arrived.. But right after that, I fell sick right on Fiesta Bonanza and just when I have recovered on Sunday, I had to get a real bad phase of runny nose the next day! I wonder what’s next.

I watched 3 movies this month! Err… Bolt, Yes Man, and Twilight! I’ve got to say I was tremendously disappointed with Yes Man. It was total crap. I can’t even remember the storyline… I only remember the continuous shouting of ‘Yes!’… If that was the director’s/script writer’s motive to make us only remember the word ‘Yes’, then they definitely met their goal.
Bolt was adorable and the storyline’s great. But I’ve really got to hand it to Twilight!! It’s totally amazingly WOW!!! Oh my goodness.. I don’t understand how people can say it’s a bad movie. Well, partly because I haven’t read the book but ultra WOW and kudos to the production team. Totally amazing.

I can’t wait for more movies…

The O Level results will be out soon (I don’t know how soon because somehow, the date’s been changing here and there!!)… I’ll be peeing in my pants soon.

Wow finally Christmas arrived 2 days ago. And yup, it also left so very quickly!!

It was one of the best Christmas days ever because of the whole choir Cantata special as well as the many many family members I’ve spent it with – my own family, the Pei Hwa Band family, the Via Christus family and also with my friends and relatives! It was marvelous!

The Via Christus Family!

Our Cantata performance

Hmmm who are they looking at?

Ohhhh Clare the Flautist!

Then there’s the tag team hahahaha

Thank you Thank you Thank you hahahaha

I had a wonderful night then…. Now it’s the O Level results looming over me!!

The stupidest choice of my life thus far was to register to be a tutor!!! LOL What the heck did I do that for… Anywayz.. It’s completely uncalled for, for what I’ve chosen to go through… Sigh…

Anyway, I’ve lost touch with my Sec friends… Completely zero… So saddening..

But I’m so happy things with my bandmates and also even some primary school friends like Fang Yin!!!! We’re still as close as ever. If not, closer!! Especially with my bandmates; they seem a happier bunch… :)

It’s quite sad having to ‘lose’ close friends due to the completion of Secondary 4..

I’m ‘forced’ to carry on with the tuition lessons at Anchorvale… At this point in time, I guess all I can do is to try my best and tutor the kid..

Looking @ the bright sight, I may find out things about myself I’ve never known… We’ll see.

Can’t wait for American Idol next year…. Katharine Mcphee, Carrie Underwood and Carly Smithson should really do more in their musical carriers… I wanna hear more of them… More more more more more wooohoooo~~~~

Sigh… It’’s been a really rough week so far.. Just on Sunday and even last night, my temperature went up to 38.8 degrees! It just had to fall on the day of the TJCSB concert.. I tried my best and really tried to focus and do my best… I certainly tried my best, no doubt about it.. I don’t know; I hope I didn’t give the wrong impression that I wasn’t looking at the conductor or was screwing up my parts.. I haven’t looked up at conductors so much in my life before.. I’m sure it’s because I knew I was ill and may not be on focus.. So it was a natural impulse to keep looking at the conductors..

Lin Sheng’s really an encouraging and inspiring leader of the band.. Some say he isn’t like that when conducting other bands and indeed, it’s a real privilege to have him conduct us.. After the concert, he came up to me to thank me for bringing my band members to the concert.. Wow; who else would do that? He’s really an appreciative man! Also, his expressions during his segment of conducting (Beautiful Oregon & Danza Sinfonica) were like… Oh my!! He looked very pleased and very inspired by us. At the same time, we were also inspired by him.. I must say that this is what’s called teamwork. You do not flare and blow your top during the concert itself because whatever mistakes’ been done, has been done. What you can do is to save the remaining time of the concert and not dwell on and sink into sorrow when you’ve made a mistake, or when you hear people making mistakes. I didn’t play perfectly, but I must say it’s been really great to be musically educated by Mr Tang as well as the different masterclasses I’ve attended for both Saxophone and Bands.. They’ve taught me not to dwell on any mistakes during a performance and to move on asap.. Because if you sink yourself into them, you’ll only screw your part up even more..

I’m thankful to the TJCSB band members as well as the TJCSB Saxophone section.. Very very thankful indeed because throughout this one month, I’ve really grown as a team player. It’s hard to adapt at first because in Pei Hwa, I’d usually be the one leading, be the one to point out mistakes and it was my responsibility to make sure every section of a piece sounds as decent and brilliant as possible. In TJCSB, it’s the first time for me to have seniors and I really had to adapt having seniors telling me ways to improve and ways to sound better. At times I’m really frustrated to have to try and change the way I play sometimes because I’m so used to me being in the lead. But I take it in as much as possible. It’s sometimes also hard to keep everything inside and I’m really apologetic if I sounded very rebellious at certain points, especially during sectionals!! Looking at Linda being so frustrated also frustrates me because I’d not want to make any mistakes so that it’ll be easier on her.. Oh well, I hope I played my part to the best that I could..

I’m spurred and motivated due to the JC band. I’ve never felt so empowered to strive for doing well before.. Apart from important events like musical examinations and events.. I really tried my best and basically, I just hope I didn’t piss anyone off.. LOL! Yea I sincerely hope I didn’t!

All in all, I wanna really thank Lin Sheng, Gino, Yun Xi, Linda, Rachel, May and Gabriel as well as other band members like GV, Xin Yun, Nicholas, Hasia and all the other band members because I’ve never experienced such a warm welcome before and also they have shared some experiences of theirs about entering the school.

It was really a pleasure and joy to have shared my music as well as them sharing their music with me. It was really hard to adapt, but I think I did it..

Also, a huge Thanks to Mr Tang, Miss Lee, Miss Chng, Jessica, Pauline, Yan Ying, Ryan, Kelly Ong, Yan Hong, Xu Ying, Anna, Hui Min, Grace and Elaine for coming to my debut with TJCSB!!!! I’d be one who’d dwell in my mistakes during the performance if not for you guys.. I didn’t have much confidence when we first started but yea.. I think you guys gave me some confidence!

Cya guyz

p.s, Last but not least, I wanna give out a huge thanks to my band members who messaged me. Like XIN FEI, Ying Xuan, Ching Yi (Who said ‘Good luck for the concert though it’s over.’) Hahahahhaa and… others! LOL

Oh my oh my let me tell you something so satisfying!! Went the the Esplanade library yesterday and found wonderful scores fir myself!!!!! Ahhhhh

I found the Glazunov Concerto, Beethoven’s Romance Opus No. 50, some Bozza Aria and a Couperin Sonata!! All sounds fun to learn.

Cya guys, can’t wait to try them out!!

Oh my goodness gracious me let me tell you something very amazing which happened on Monday: I scored a whopping 121 points for bowling!!!!! LOL but the other rounds were seriously far worse. Sort if like 72 & 74. Oh my gosh.

Anyway I personally had a great blast after yesterdays gruelling band prac. Oh my goodness let me tell you: I seriously felt like my lip were all ripped apart!! Anyway it was a good chance to bond with the TJCSB seniors and seriously, it was such a blast. Went to Siglap’s Cafe Cartel to have lunch at like 4pm. The food was quite good but Xin Yun’s chicken dish looked so freakin marvelous!! It was my first time there at any Cafe Cartel outlet and I’m really quite surprised at how good they are. Their free flow of homemade bread was very awesome!! Oh yea, I went there with Nicholas, Kenneth, Gino, GV, Xin Yun, May, Rachel and Shu Fen. It was just a great blast of fun. Shu Fen was really quite busy with taking photos with Gino’s phone while everyone else played truth or dare and the ‘Drink If You Have Done This Before’ game. Haha I did so many weirdo stuff before when I was such a young tot with zero thinking skills and hahaha I think I traumatized them abit!!!! Lololololol.

Great fun. And really, as they were asking me if TJ was my first choice, Id say a definite Yes. Thanks to Mr Tang’s great influence :P

Lots and lots of pictures you will be sooo excited to see them hahahahaha cos many of them are sort of like super spastic hahahahahahahha.

Anyway I’m now at Marina Square going for a bowling session with some band mates hahaha wonder how good they are HahHAHA well well I can’t wait because I haven’t gone out with them for such a long time man.

Oh yes oh yes!! TJC band concert this Sunday. They are absolutely playing very scary pieces hahahahajajahajajahahaha but with the peace so far I can actually get a hang of the pieces better and better. The pieces are really very cry fun to play! Haha can’t wait to have the concert with them.

Going for a movie later as well. I think Bolt? And it’s in 3D!! Can’t wait.

Okok better go now. It’s really quite tedious to blog using my phone haha. Cya!!

Pics should be up really quite soon haha. Cyazzzz

Yes yes, hong kong’s weather was most magnificent hahahahaha
